Staycations in the Maritimes
Updated: Sep 2
We live in such a beautiful part of the world. Im all for travelling and adventuring around the globe but sometime's it's nice to do it so close to home. I want to shine light on some of my favourite places to stay in the Maritimes so that you can do the same thing this year!
Paradise Hills - Hillsborough, NB
This little hidden gem is your ideal spot for a date night or a family getaway. It has everything you need to make sure your vacation is absolutely perfect. Relax in the bathtub with a glass of wine, have a video game night or simply enjoy each other's company while watching a movie on the big screen. The host will ensure you are well taken care of and have the best stay! Want to know the best part? It's pet friendly so you don't have to leave your furry best friend behind!
Apres Adventure Chalet - Waterford, NB
The moment we arrived here, we felt at home. This cabin is located minutes from Poley Mountain, stunning waterfalls and so many beautiful hiking trails. It would be easy to spend weeks here and never run out of things to do. The hot tub is always inviting, the stars are always bright and the small river in the back makes a great swimming hole for the pups to cool off on hot days. Yes, you heard that right, it's pet friendly! The dogs loved it here just as much as we did. This loft style cabin includes a full kitchen, 3 bedrooms, a full bathroom, the most comfortable sitting areas and the best little touches to make you feel even more at home. We kept finding little things the hosts had left for us around the cabin that really made our stay outstanding. A s'mores kit, blanket and bugs spray for around the fire, a "picnic for two" backpack ready by the door, a cooler bag to bring on hikes during hot days, complimentary local coffee and so much more. This New Brunswick gem is the perfect little getaway and we already can't wait to come back.
Caledonia Mountain Oasis - Riverside-Albert, NB
This beautiful and secluded cabin is exactly what you need to wind down and enjoy everything nature has to offer. Roast marshmellows on the fire, take a dip in the hot tub or have a nap in the hammock while the birds sing you to sleep. Best part? Its DOG FRIENDLY! You already know how important it is to me to find the best pup friendly places and this one does not disappoint. You need to stay here!
Broadleaf Glamping - Hopewell Hill, NB
If you want the best views, good food, and a great place to go horseback riding, this is definitely the place for you. What could possibly be more east coast than a lighthouse cabin? This space has one bed, a few kitchen amenities and a small sitting area in the entrance. No groceries? No problem. There's a restaurant on site that offers delivery to your room. Minutes from Hopewell Rocks, it's the perfect spot to spend a few nights adventuring some of New Brunswick's greatest features.
Darlings Island Bunkie on the Water - Darlings Island, NB
This spot was so much better than the photos and MUCH better than we ever expected. It comes equipped with two beds, a peaceful outdoor shower, a few small outdoor kitchen amenities, stunning views of the lake and lots of places to sit and enjoy it. Spend one night or a few nights but I promise you, you won't want to leave. Only 30 mins from Saint John centre where you can find lots of cool spots to wine + dine.
The Woodland Hive - Hillsborough, NB
I wish I had the words to describe how much we LOVED staying here. The dome life is definitely something I could get used to. If the wooden hot tub and sauna doesn't sell you, the incredibly comfy bed and roaming chickens will (they have a chicken coop and they are all very friendly, its guaranteed they will come and say hello) This property has the privacy you need and all the things you need to enter complete relaxation mode.
A Cabin Down Below - Wentworth, NS
This cabin has so much to offer. Being so secluded in the forests of Nova Scotia will force you to unwind, break out the bottle of wine and relax in the hot tub all day long. With so many adventures to do so close to the property, its easy to spend days here without getting bored. Bonus: Its PET FRIENDLY! If you are an avid traveller, you know just as much as I do that it can be quite difficult to find places that will allow you furry friends to join you and Im here to tell you not to look any further, THIS is where you want to be. The hosts will make sure you are very well taken care of.
Hambrook Point Cottage - Renous, NB
Another PET FRIENDLY cottage coming your way! This place will take you back in time. It sits right on the Miramichi River and only a 2 mins walk from the cottage. If you're looking for a place to relax and re-charge, you need to book here. With only a 20-25 mins drive from Miramichi, you're far enough from civilization to enjoy nature but still close enough if you need anything. This place has all the glamping necessities like a full kitchen including a microwave and a full bathroom. Bring your kids, your fur babies, you and your partner or just yourself. You'll love this place!
Belleisle Bayview Retreat "Star Dome" - Long Point, NB
This dome stay was such a sweet little hidden gem. We had yet to adventure this part of New Brunswick and we are so glad we did! I would 100% recommend staying here during the summer to take advantage of all of its amenities like the sauna and night time star gazing. Bring your own groceries to BBQ outside and enjoy your meal with a view on the patio directly attached to the dome. Bring everything you need and you'll never need to leave!
Historic + Central Modernized Loft - Halifax, NS
This renovated historic church was so much more than we expected when we got there! With it being located so close to downtown Halifax, it was so easy to see everything we wanted to see, have a few drinks at some of the local bars and enjoy Halifax's nightlife while only being a cheap cab ride away.
The Halifax Hideaway - Halifax, NS
Experience all the things Halifax has to offer by staying right in the heart of downtown! With such a short drive to the waterfront, the Halifax Shopping Centre or the best restaurants in town, staying here will be the easiest decision you'll have to make while you're exploring one of the most beautiful cities in our Atlantic Bubble.
Hotel du Vieux Port - Shediac, NB
I wish I had enough words to describe the warm welcome we felt when we arrived at the Hotel du Vieux Port in Shediac. The staff, the thoughtful touches and the experience as a whole is something I wish I could re-live over and over again. I have been living in Moncton for 6 years and have never spent a full day in Shediac. The East Coast is famous for it's seafood so we made sure to try it ALL. Shediac is known for it's beach, so of course, that's where we started. We had some signature dishes and local brews at Euston Park and spent the meal enjoying the views of the beach. We then had the opportunity to explore the historical parts of the town and taste even more local food with Viva Shediac. This is a must do! For supper, we headed down to The Sandbar at Pointe-du-Chene warf and filled up on drinks and appetizers while we watched the sunset. Next time you're in Shediac, make sure to choose Bower!
Bower on Robinson - Moncton, NB
There's just something about an inner-city stay that makes the best date nights and Bower on Robinson was the perfect choice for ours. We walked the waterfront, had brunch at Clos (the best brunch we have EVER had), supper and beer at Euston park and lunch at The Gahan House. It is in the best location to enjoy all of Moncton's biggest attractions and a great place to pop a bottle and celebrate one another.
The Oceanfront Suite - Fergusons Cove
I wish I was typing this while still enjoying the breathtaking views of the Oceanfront Suite. This place exceeded our expectations by a long haul. We were welcomed by a bottle of champagne and some snacks and it was so great to come "home" to after a long day at Crystal Cresent Beach which happens to be a short 25 minute drive from here. The hosts were fantastic and we would go back in a heartbeat!
Gros Morne Cabins - Rocky Harbour, Newfoundland
I wish I had the words to describe how we felt when we stayed at Gros Morne Cabins. These sweet little Jellybean cabins are located in a little town called Rocky Harbour just minutes from Gros Morne National Park. Julia really made us feel like we were getting a VIP local experience! She made sure we knew about all of the best hiking trails, views and restaurants in the area. We really felt like we were part of the family. We weren't even out of Newfoundland and we were already planning our trip to come back! We had an amazing stay and we will definitely be back!
Seaglass Cottage - Rocky Harbour, Newfoundland
We spent our first night in Rocky Harbour at Seaglass Cottage and all I can say is wow! This oceanfront, two bedroom cottage is located in the heart of Rocky Harbour right next to The Treasure Box where we enjoyed the BEST breakfast! It's walking distance to a few great restaurants, local gift shops and a beautiful beach. The sunsets are spectacular and you can watch them right from the comfort of your front step. Steven and Bernice made us feel right at home and if you're looking for a fantastic place to stay, make sure to check them out!
